The interior of the villa is just as grand as the exterior, featuring impressive rooms, artwork, and architecture that you wouldn’t expect from a place open to the public.

The origin of Villa Olmo

Villa Olmo has quite an interesting history, and it all begins back in the late 1700s. Built between 1782 and 1797, it was commissioned by the wealthy and influential Odescalchi family, with the aim of creating a home that would show off their wealth and power. Designed by the famous architect Simone Cantoni, the villa was built in the neoclassical style, which was all the rage back then.

Over the years, Villa Olmo has had many famous owners, including the Odescalchi family and later the Visconti family. It also became a focal point for cultural life in the region, often hosting important meetings, exhibitions, and parties for high society. It wasn’t just a private residence, it was a place for the elites of the time to come together and enjoy the beauty of the area.

In the 19th century, the villa became even more famous when it was opened to the public for events, concerts, and exhibitions. Today, it is still an active cultural space that attracts both locals and tourists.
